Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

With practitioner: Liz Walton

“Research shows that there is more evidence for hypnotherapy than any other complementary therapy. By using hypnosis people can perform prodigious feats of willpower and self-healing” – The Health Education Authority

What is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a natural state of trance similar to that achieved in meditation and which can be induced by concentration on a single idea or focus. In a therapeutic setting, hypnosis provides a very powerful tool to access subconscious patterns of thought and behaviour and resolve issues that lie beyond the capabilities of conscious resolution. The profound state of relaxation and solution-focused awareness provides a context for new insights and understandings to be formed facilitated by the therapist. Treatment is tailored to each client and a programe of therapy is designed according to your preferences, requirements, personality and needs.

Modern hypnotherapy utilises the clinically proven techniques of; CBT, solution focused brief therapy, plus other lesser known therapy styles, and combines them with a state of trance to help people make significant positive changes within a relatively short period of time. Hypnosis helps the parts of us that other approaches can’t reach, to help us resolve unwelcome habits and thought patterns at a subconscious level.

Who does Hypnotherapy Help?

With appropriate hypnotherapy, depression is one of the most treatable disorders. It has dramatically lower rates of relapse than with anti-depressants alone. In fact, it is now considered the most effective treatment for it, even in severe cases, enabling the client to focus on solving problems and engaging fully in life again. Hypnotherapy can be the solution to:

InsomniaSmoking Cessation
Eating DisordersDepression
Lack of ConcentrationAnxiety & Stress
Substance AbuseWeight Issues
Athletic PerformancePhobias and Fears
Self confidencePublic Speaking

Easing Stress and Anxiety

Stress and anxiety can be a common complaint in today’s society, with most people encountering it at some point. When it becomes too much to cope with, it can effect our quality of life. Excessive and prolonged stress can lead to illness, physical and emotional exhaustion, increased anxiety and panic attacks. When we come under excessive pressure we tend to respond with either anxiety, anger or depression or a combination of all three.

Lifting Depression

Depression is perhaps the most common psychological disorder today. Often when it does occur, the individual will turn in on themselves and refuse to engage with others. Severity can range from being almost totally dysfunctional to having some of the symptoms associated with the illness.

  • Depressed mood and fearfulness
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Loss of energy and/or appetite
  • Loss of pleasure or interest in usual activities
  • Difficulties in thinking, concentrating etc.

How Hypnotherapy can help?
Hypnotherapy gives us the ability to cope in different situations in a calm and effective way. You will be able to control your anxiety levels and have a calmer, more confident approach to all situations. Its success can be aided when the patient also uses self-hypnosis and/or a relaxation CD; recreating
the calm state experienced during the hypnotherapy session.

Around twelve million adult’s see their GP’s with mental health problems each year – most of these suffer from anxiety and depression, much of which is stress-related.
