Social Movement Exercise Class

Call reception to book a class.

An exercise class run by our Exercise Physiologist with a focus on creating a supportive small group environment to exercise safely in.

This class is designed for participants diagnosed with a mental health condition and wanting to improve their quality of life using exercise as a therapy (N.B. these classes are exercise based and do not involve counselling/psychology).

Numbers for these classes are capped at 3 and are ideal for NDIS self and plan managed clients.

Participants are closely monitored and have a program personalised to their level of fitness.

Mental health conditions affect one in four people worldwide according to the world health organisation. Such conditions include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and schizophrenia.

These conditions are very much physical conditions, with physical complications such as changes in the grey matter of the brain, changes in hormone balances and weight gain.

Mental health conditions are caused by multiple factors and triggers, with each case individualised to the person. Factors and triggers include family history, environment, personality, physical health changes and illness, substance use and stressful and traumatic life events.

Exercise has strong evidence for the prevention, management and treatment for depression and anxiety and emerging evidence for PTSD and schizophrenia.

Benefits are seen through the management of co-morbid health conditions such as obesity, improvements in self-efficacy and body image and physiological improvements such as increases in grey matter within the brain and improved hormone balance.

Let us help you manage your mental health through our tailored exercise class,
Supervised Social Movement.
